A well-known food ingredient and flavor company is seeking to promote specialty raw material food ingredients and flavors into the beverage, bakery, and sports nutrition manufacturing industries. The focus will be on managing global accounts with market-leading companies in these sectors.
Position Details:
Minimum requirements for the role:
- A tertiary qualification in food science or a related scientific field is essential.
- Previous sales experience in an Account Manager or similar role promoting specialty raw material food ingredients into flavor, beverage, bakery, and related markets, with a focus on managing global accounts.
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Proven technical sales experience marketing key specialty ingredients such as flavors, vitamins, botanical extracts, colors, premixes/compounds, and commodity food ingredients to food manufacturers.
- Ability to offer innovative ideas and concepts to customers through technical understanding.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent command of English.
- Strong business acumen and a commercial mindset, with career development ambitions.
Responsibilities:
- Promote specialty raw material food ingredients and flavors into the beverage, bakery, and sports nutrition manufacturing industries, emphasizing global account management.
- Manage and grow an existing portfolio of global and market-leading companies.
- Conduct market research, monitor trends, and implement sales strategies in collaboration with the human nutrition business manager.
- Set and work towards sales budgets.
- Manage accounts of existing and potential customers, focusing on commercial activities.
- Manage marketing of specialty ingredients, including flavors, vitamins, botanical extracts, colors, premixes/compounds, etc., to food manufacturers in Johannesburg and the surrounding areas.
- Oversee global accounts within the beverage, bakery, and sports nutrition markets.
- Coordinate inventory planning by forecasting raw materials and defining stock levels in collaboration with suppliers and supply chain staff.
- Track business performance and pipeline, and coordinate information flow between principals to align sales and marketing strategies.
- Attend conferences locally and internationally as required.
