We deliver financial services to consumers (B2C) and merchants (B2B) in Southern Africa through our proprietary banking and payment technologies. We offer banking, lending and insurance products to consumers and cash management solutions, bill payment technologies, value-added services, business funding and card acquiring solutions to formal and informal retail merchants.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tech Operator to join our Technology Operations team. The Tech Operator will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our technical systems and equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of technology, the ability to troubleshoot issue, and a commitment to maintaining a high level of operational efficiency. Responsibilities

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Monitor Lesaka Technologies' systems and or networks for performance degradation or loss of availability and take appropriate actions based on the relevant standard operating procedure.
  • Determine the root cause of service degradation or system failure and provide such details when escalating via the appropriate channels
  • Monitor Data Centers, Comms and UPS rooms
  • Administration of Data Centers and Floor Entrance using and accessing camera applications, and environment sensor pods
  • Infrastructure Environmental Checks (Data Centre, UPS and Comms Rooms) 1st Hour of Shift- Visually check Aircons, room temperature (sensor pods), lighting, UPS, Servers display indication errors, alert sounds (beep) in the Data Centre, UPS, and Comms Rooms. Visually check the condenser functionality in the Generator Room, Rooftop and Basement1 if there is an issue with an Aircon. If Aircon fails, physically check the electrical isolator switch inside the mini DB on the rooftop and lift it if it's down. Temporary installation of air extractor in the Data Centre, UPS and Comms Rooms if Aircon fails.
  • Infrastructure Environmental Checks (Generators) 1st Hour of Shift - Visually check generators for fuel, oil, water levels. Visually check battery, and display panels for errors. Visually check that Generator is on Auto mode. Start generator test and monitor service provider in refueling generators.
  • Load Shedding / Electrical Outage Checks - The 2 above Infrastructure Environmental Checks are completed at the beginning and end of Load shedding. The Load shedding schedule is available on the TechOps Standby phone.
  • Security Checks - Physically test that all main entrance doors are secured on all the Lesaka Tech offices in the building once during night shift.
  • Monitor RMT/EASON systems for municipalities prepared electricity transactions, and report any errors and declines on transactions
  • Monitor Security Cameras 24/7 for increased safety, and improved situational awareness of security and operational environment
  • Monitoring of alerts and notifications on relevant communication channels such as e-mails, SMSs, and Calls
  • Monitoring of international settlements and restarting of FTP in case of failure
  • System backups monitoring and backup tapes changes
  • Produce reports and conduct data analysis with software tools provided such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI or Google Looker Studio
  • Maintain a variety of documentation, including standard operating procedures, and system logs
  • Retrieve and sort program output as required and send data to specified users
  • Clear / escalate any problems at the end of the shift
  • Daily Networks backup reporting (checks)
  • Follow security procedures relating to entering restricted areas and grant appropriate access
  • Responsible for maintaining an access control log file
  • First line support after hours in case of building/Tech emergencies

Educational Level

  • Grade 12
  • A+ and N+

Specialist Skills Required

  • Computer literate
  • Excel, Word and Outlook proficient
  • Operations Administrative experience
  • Knowledge of Networks basics
  • Knowledge of UEPS advantageous
  • Knowledge of Stratus and Helpdesk advantageous

Experience Required

  • 1-2 years related experience

Essential Requirements

  • Be able to work 12 hour shifts, e.g. 6am to 6pm, and/or 6pm to 6am
  • Be actively involved in ongoing training. This includes training on new systems, learning new or modified procedures and reading software / technical manuals
  • Be able to plan and schedule work priorities to meet deadlines and emergencies
  • Have an ability to communicate at all levels
  • Have an ability to resolve problems timeously
  • Be able to work under pressure
  • Have an ability to work independently and without supervision
  • Have excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Be prepared to work overtime when required
  • Be reliable, trustworthy and honest
  • Be proactive and flexible
  • Be in possession of a valid South African Credit Card driverʼs license free of endorsements
