Job summary
Telkom Openserve in Gauteng seeks a Tech Officer: CNFO Mast and Towers Climber to perform assurance, maintenance and commissioning on core network and access technologies. A climber certificate is required with fall-arrest training available.
Responsibilities include monitoring performance, executing PMT activities, facilitating site access, and reporting findings. The role demands hands-on maintenance, testing, and compliance with Telkom standards; you will climb masts and towers as part of
Qualifications
- Mast and Tower climber certification required; fall arrest training may be provided.
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in telecoms or similar field.
- Knowledge of core network and access technologies; safety compliant.
Responsibilities
- Perform assurance, fulfilment, acceptance and commissioning tasks on core/ access tech.
- Climb masts and towers for maintenance and testing.
- Monitor equipment performance and report results.
- Coordinate site access and execute PMT activities.
- Complete administration and provide technical reports.

NQF 6: National Diploma/ Advanced Diploma/ Certificate

3 Years relevant experience
- Electrical Engineering diploma (N6/S4) Light Current (at least NQF level 6)
OR
- Grade 12 with Maths & Science (NQF level 4)
- 1 Year relevant experience at Operational level.
- 3 Years relevant experience at Operational level.
- Ex-/ Current Telkom Full Time Bursars, learnerships and internships candidates will be exempted from the 3 years’ experience requirements but must have a minimum of 12 months relevant experience.
- Valid climbing and/or fall arrest certificate or must be prepared to undergo fall arrest training.
- Valid medical clearance certificate/ Be prepared to undergo Medical clearance certificate testing.
- No fear of heights (Masts & Towers - fall arrest, rescue & rope access).
- Must remain physically fit to climb.
- Not colour blind.
- Must be able to work after hours, including overtime, call out and stand‑by.
- Able to function in stressful environment.
- Valid Drivers license
