What will you do?
Manage the Risk, Governance, and Compliance functions within Distribution Operations.
What will make you successful in this role?
Compliance and Risk Management
- Understand all relevant compliance legislation and requirements for the FSP.
- Translate and interpret these requirements practically for the business.
- Demonstrate high levels of technical and product knowledge, including investments.
- Coordinate with Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM) compliance, Group Internal Audit, and Group Compliance on policy and process changes.
- Ensure compliance practices are observed in disclosures, advice, records, and ethics.
- Monitor and report on risks, compliance, and policy adherence, implementing corrective steps as needed.
Risk Monitoring
- Conduct ongoing proactive monitoring to identify training or process gaps.
- Prepare regular risk and TCF reports for management.
- Assist in implementing risk management policies and training.
- Supervise risk champions across the business.
Compliance and Risk Reporting & Corrective Action
- Address risk areas or anomalies immediately with management.
- Track, interpret, and communicate risk trends and gaps.
- Monitor progress on closing audit and compliance findings.
- Maintain records of risk and issues, proposing corrective actions.
- Report regularly to management on risk and compliance statuses.
Business Management
- Focus on operational agility, effectiveness, and process improvements.
- Provide efficient, compliant processes for Individual Life and Distribution.
Stakeholder and Client Management
- Negotiate with service providers and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with departments to enhance service delivery and profitability.
People Management
- Ensure a high-performance, capable workforce aligned with the company culture.
- Lead business transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
- Degree in Risk Management or Compliance; Honors degree advantageous.
Experience & Knowledge
- 3+ years in insurance, specifically Long-Term Insurance.
- 2-3 years in Risk Management or Compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel; experience with digital platforms and data analytics tools.
