Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Contribute to and drive the annual business strategy for the Africa EPA team with support from the EPA senior leadership. Aim to position the team as the sector leader. Collaborate with other P&A team leads. Input into wider WSP business policies. Provide team leadership and guidance to the Africa EPA teams in South Africa, Mozambique, and Ghana. Convene and chair team coordination and quarterly meetings. Assist with business administration and remove roadblocks. Drive recruitment and provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
  • Business Development: Manage key client relationships, participate in marketing and business development, develop proposals, make Go-No-Go tender decisions, and sign off on technical and financial aspects of proposals.
  • Commercial: Responsible for financial performance of the EPA teams in RSA, Mozambique, and Ghana. Manage project forecasting, work-in-progress, invoicing, and debt follow-up.
  • Technical: Lead or play a prominent role in delivering local and international projects. Offer technical guidance, maintain professional registration, and engage with clients and stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Health and Safety: Model SHEQ performance standards, contribute to risk identification, promote company values, and ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications

Honours or higher degree in a relevant environmental discipline. Demonstrable leadership experience with 15+ years in environmental/social consulting, leading ESIA/ESDD projects in Africa. EAPASA registration or application in process is required. Project experience in sectors like power, infrastructure, mining, ports, oil & gas, and manufacturing. Knowledge of environmental and social sub-disciplines. Strong report writing, project management, and commercial skills. Ability to travel within Sub-Saharan Africa.
