Job description

Job Title: Chaplain (Warrant Officer) - Pinetown

Job Location: KwaZulu-Natal, Pinetown

Deadline: February 27

Generic Requirements:

  1. Applicant must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post.
  2. Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
  3. Be proficient in at least two official languages, of which one must be English.
  4. Must be a South African citizen.
  5. Must have no criminal record or pending criminal/department cases.
  6. Computer Literacy.
  7. Interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  8. Analytical, self-management, and problem-solving skills.
  9. Report writing, presentation, and development skills.
  10. Be in possession of at least a valid light driver's license.
  11. Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification.
  12. Applicants must be willing to travel extensively.
  13. Relevant courses in the field of the post may be an advantage.
  14. Must not have visible tattoos when wearing SAPS uniform.
  15. Successful candidate must be willing to travel and attend courses when required.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Applicants must be in possession of a 3-year Diploma/Degree in Theology or a related field (accredited by SAQA on NQF level 6 or higher), with three years post-ordination experience as a minister of religion.
  2. Proof of Academic Record of qualification/s from recognized institution.
  3. Proof of a valid Ordination certificate as preacher (i.e., minister of religion) recognized by the current ecclesiastical denomination concerned.
  4. Applicant must submit proof of a valid good standing certificate issued by the current ecclesiastical denomination concerned.

Core Functions:

  1. Develop and render professional Spiritual Services interventions to SAPS employees.
  2. Minister to SAPS employees through developing and rendering support (general and pastoral care) programmes, interventions, and projects to address the spiritual needs of the SAPS employees.
  3. Address the spiritual needs of SAPS employees and their families through profession-specific pro- and reactive Spiritual Services ministry.
  4. Develop and implement the multi-disciplinary approach interventions within the Employee Health and Wellness environment.
  5. Develop and maintain the protocols and policies in terms of the set standards of the Section Spiritual Services and the Employee Health and Wellness policies.
