Job Description:
- Income tax calculations and returns
- Gather information, complete/review income tax returns based on financial statements generated by the Audit and Accounting Departments
- Gather information, complete/review individual income tax returns based on necessary information obtained from clients, including drafting statements of assets and liabilities, capital reconciliations, and tax computations
- Provisional tax calculations and returns
- Attend to provisional tax deadlines
- Prepare and send provisional tax letters to clients
- Accurately calculate provisional tax estimates and complete IRP6 returns
- Manage list of provisional tax clients to ensure timely IRP6 submissions based on proper estimates or basic amounts and timely payments
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding their provisional tax returns
- Dividend tax calculations and returns
- Compile dividend resolutions and submit returns (DTR01 and DTR02) accurately and on time
- Deceased estate calculations and returns
- Gather information, perform deceased estate tax calculations, and prepare income tax returns for deceased estates
- Attach all necessary documentary proof to completed returns to prevent unnecessary queries and revised assessments from SARS
- Keep client managers informed of any direct client requests
- Monitor submission of returns for relevant directors and departments to ensure timely submissions
- Capture and set payments and refunds on Proftax/E-filing
- Ensure payments are made to SARS on time
- Perform any other tasks reasonably related to the completion of tax returns
- Review assessments issued by SARS to confirm accuracy or identify the need for disputes
