Job summary

Virago Recruitment in Pretoria is seeking a Tax Consultant focused on personal tax with at least three years of relevant experience. The role requires solid bookkeeping skills and bilingual communication in Afrikaans and English with clients.

You will handle eFiling, ITR12 submissions, ITA34 assessments, SARS objections, tax clearances, and Pastel-based VAT reporting, while staying updated on SARS changes. Regular client meetings and advisory duties are expected.

Qualifications

• Must have at least three (3) years of personal tax experience.
• Able to do bookkeeping.
• Bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
• Primary focus on personal tax.
• Familiar with eFiling; submit ITR12 returns.
• Understand ITA34 and SARS assessments.
• Handle SARS objections and appeals.
• Tax clearance certificates & foreign investment clearances.
• Knowledge of Provisional Tax and VAT reporting.
• Stay up to date with SARS eFiling changes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit ITR12 returns.

• Monitor SARS turnover times and communicate with clients.
• Work on Pastel: generate VAT reports and reach trial balance.

Company is Pretoria is looking for a Tax Consultant to join their team.

Tax Consultant with at least 3 years of relevant experience; it is important that the person is also able to do bookkeeping. The candidate should be bilingual. Afrikaans and English

The primary focus will specifically be on personal tax.

At least three (3) years of personal tax experience is required.

The following is a description relating to the position:

1. Must be able to work on Efiling: a. Submit ITR12 returns; b. Understand the ITA34 (assessment) when SARS issues an additional assessment; c. Must be able to handle SARS objections and appeals; d. Must be able to do tax clearance certificates & Foreign investment tax clearances; e. Must know the new process on how to transfer an Efiling profile; f. Must be able to monitor SARS turnaround times and take the necessary escalation, complaints & tax ombud steps as needed; g. Must know what to do when there is an error on the return;
2. Must be able to do calculations on wintax and understand the calculations;
3. Must be able to explain to a client why a refund might be less;
4. Must be able to calculate Provisional Tax and request the necessary documents;
5. Must know why SARS does not pay out a client’s refund and solve the problem;
6. Must stay up to date as SARS Efiling changes;
7. Must be able to handle all SARS enquiries and appointments;
8. Must be able to work on Pastel: a. Must be able to work up to trial balance; b. Be able to generate and understand VAT reports;
9. Must always be friendly and patient with clients;
10. Must have a positive attitude;
11. Must be able to advise clients as well as possible and request the necessary documents from clients;
12. Must be able to meet with clients from time to time;
13. Must be able to do admin;
14. Must enjoy tax-related work
