Job summary

Qualifications

• Relevant degree in Accounting, Tax or Finance.
• 2–3 years’ experience in tax compliance or tax administration.
• Solid understanding of South African Income Tax legislation.
• Experience with Income Tax return preparation and SARS submissions.
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English – essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit Income Tax returns based on financial statements provided by the Audit and Bookkeeping departments.
• Prepare Income Tax returns using client-provided financial information.
• Ensure all required supporting documentation is attached to tax submissions to minimise SARS queries and revised assessments.
• Submit completed returns to clients for signature and lodge returns with SARS within required deadlines.
• Handle SARS queries and correspondence relating to submitted returns.
• Monitor and track tax return submissions to ensure deadlines are met.
• Assist with client registrations with SARS where required.
• Prepare statements of assets and liabilities, capital reconciliations and tax computations.
• Calculate third and additional top-up tax payments when required.
• Maintain accurate tax records and ensure effective tax administration.
• Follow up on outstanding information and documentation required for tax submissions.
