Duties and Responsibilities
Manage Client portfolio and liaise directly with Partner
Completion of Client tax returns in respect of the following:
- IT12(individual) – Requesting information, calculating and completing of individual clients tax returns including tax computations and schedules, meet with client and Partner
- IT12EI (Exempt institutions)
- IT12TR (Trusts)
- IT14 (Companies and CC’s)
- IT14SD (Supplementary Declaration)
- IT3D reconciliations for non-profit organisations
- IT3T reconciliations for Trusts
- Submission of supporting documents to SARS
- Calculation of IRP6 provisional tax returns in respect of the first, second and third periods. Payment letters sent to clients and
Submission of provisional returns to SARS
- Completion of IT56/DWT returns in respect of STC/DTW payable on dividends declared by companies including interest calculations
- Download, capturing and checking of assessments and preparation of letters
- Resolving queries from SARS and clients regarding all tax matters.
- Completion of IT144 returns in respect of donations made by clients
- Completion of application forms for registration in respect of Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL and Workman’s Compensation, Customs and Exporters
- Meeting and liaising with clients regarding tax matters when necessary
- Application for Tax Clearance Certificates in respect of good standing, tenders, immigration and foreign investments
- Application for Tax Directives
- Following up on Tax Refunds and assessments not yet finalised by SARS
- Maintaining Tax Database i.e. data capturing, add /edit clients etc
- Checking new clients tax status when taking on
- Register new clients and maintain client data base on e-filing
- Notify SARS of deregistration, change of year ends, conversions and name changes
- Meeting with SARS tax practitioners unit to resolve client queries urgently
- Attending to EMP501 reconciliations and IRP5 / IT3(a) certificates including gathering & compiling payroll schedules
- Tax billings
- Requesting SARS print outs for audit purposes
- Send clients correspondence regarding tax deadlines
- Keep up to date with SARS amendments to the tax act
- Tax training to clerks, vac students and shadow workers, training of junior staff and completion of PR on work done
- Completion and submission of PAYE and VAT returns
- Checking of tax computations for companies and exempt intuitions
- Completing of tax exemption application forms with SARS and NPO registrations with The Department of Social Development
- Dealing with SARS monitoring office in respect of non-compliance issues with SARS
- Dealing with SARS’s Large Business Centre with regards to various queries
- Preparation of ADR’s, notice of objections, disputes to penalty assessments, notice of appeals in respect of Income tax, PAYE and VAT
- Calculation of Capital Gains including time apportionment methods
- Attending to taxpayers amnesty applications with SARS
- Completion of estates tax calculations and preparation of tax returns until DOD as well as Post DOD including the income tax registration for Post DOD. Attending to engagement letters and general power of attorneys required for tax work to be done.

- Dealing with SARS collections department in respect of deferred arrangement applications and application for compromise

- Analysis of PAYE, IT and VAT accounts and preparation of reconciliation thereof Activate suspension codes on VAT and PAYE accounts

Salary range for the role: R40 000 – R48 000 CTC per month.
