Responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering a full range of corporate tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within specific timeframes.
  • Providing support for local (South Africa), Africa, and Middle East taxation matters, working closely with tax advisors when necessary.
  • Preparing and reviewing Provisional and Income Tax returns for South Africa, Africa, and Middle Eastern entities.
  • Supporting and coordinating tax compliance and advice for international subsidiaries and branches from third-party service providers.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly income tax and deferred tax computations.
  • Preparing, submitting, and reviewing dividend tax returns.
  • Preparing, submitting, and reviewing VAT and WHT returns.
  • Reconciling revenue and billings.
  • Advising the business on domestic and international tax issues.
  • Providing guidance to payroll and HR departments on domestic payroll tax and expatriate tax issues.
  • Contributing to tax solutions delivery, including tax planning and risk mitigation.
  • Following up on financial proceedings and ensuring timely completion of tasks related to relevant accounts.
  • Gaining exposure to transfer pricing policies and compliance.
  • Managing tax compliance and risks across multiple countries.
  • Assisting in international tax planning initiatives and special projects.
  • Assessing tax positions and interpreting the business model.
  • Staying updated on new tax developments across South Africa, Africa, and the Middle East.
  • Beneficial exposure to transfer pricing.
  • Assisting with year-end tax disclosures for financial statements and handling tax matters with auditors for all countries.

Minimum Requirements

  • Honours degree in Accounting or Taxation.
  • Postgraduate qualification in tax or tax law (advantageous).
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in South African and African tax environments.
  • Experience in Middle Eastern countries (advantageous).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Tax Accountant with a solid accounting background.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (mandatory).
  • Registration with relevant professional tax institutions or bodies.
