Title: Talent Business Partner

Location: Cape Town

About the Company

Our client, a fully integrated independent power producer (IPP) that develops, finances, builds, owns, and operates commercial renewable energy generation facilities across Sub-Saharan Africa are looking for a Talent Business Partner. They manage their operational wind farms totaling 140 MW and holds a development portfolio exceeding 3 GW in wind, solar, and battery storage projects. Since 2021, the company has been undergoing accelerated growth, securing over 1,000 MW of new projects to be constructed between 2023 and 2025.

Role Overview

The Talent Business Partner is responsible for managing the full recruitment lifecycle in collaboration with the People & Culture (P&C) team and hiring managers. This includes sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, and optimizing recruitment systems and processes. The role plays a critical part in supporting organizational growth through strategic talent acquisition and ensuring consistent candidate experience and compliance across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process: job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interview coordination.
  • Partner with the P&C team and hiring managers to define hiring needs and craft compelling job descriptions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with recruitment agencies and job boards to ensure a qualified talent pipeline.
  • Administer external agency service level agreements (SLAs) and ensure effective delivery.
  • Conduct candidate screening interviews (online/in-person) and provide comprehensive feedback to the P&C team.
  • Implement and manage assessment centers as needed.
  • Continuously update and maintain careers website and job portals.
  • Maintain applicant tracking and recruitment dashboards to provide clear process visibility and reporting.
  • Source active and passive candidates through multiple channels including databases, job boards, and referrals.
  • Ensure smooth coordination of recruitment, pre-employment checks, onboarding, and induction processes.
  • Review and enhance recruitment infrastructure and policies to align with best practices.
  • Ensure full compliance with labor laws, internal policies, and industry regulations throughout the recruitment process.
  • Oversee the employee referral program and adherence to the relevant policy.
  • Provide regular recruitment status updates to the P&C team and Head of People & Culture.
  • Analyze recruitment performance metrics (e.g., cost, time-to-hire, source effectiveness) to drive process improvement.
  • Monitor market trends and internal workforce capabilities to identify risks and talent opportunities.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental risks are assessed and controlled within their area of responsibility.
  • Clearly communicate safety expectations and ensure employees have the necessary training and understanding to work safely.
  • Promote awareness of the environmental impacts of work activities and enforce legal and company environmental controls.

Qualifications & Requirements

Must-Have:

  • Minimum 6-7 years of professional experience in full-cycle recruitment.
  • At least 4 years must have been in-house/TA experience.
  • Experience having mentored a team member or managed a team member.
  • Strong personality and ability to push back on stakeholders.
  • Brilliant administration skills.
  • Experience managing recruitment agencies a plus.
  • Proven track record in high-volume recruitment across diverse, multiskilled profiles.

Preferred:

  • At least 2 years of experience in the renewable energy, technical, construction or engineering industries (barring this, some level of white-collar technical exposure is required)
  • Experience in recruiting for both permanent and fixed-term roles, across corporate offices and remote project sites.
