We are a well-established international Defence Industry company, seeking an exceptional Junior Mechanical Designer to become part of our dynamic team, specializing in the design and development of land-based defense systems.

Responsibilities:

1. Technical Drawings: Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings of vehicle components, assemblies, and systems, based on design engineer specifications.
2. CAD Modelling: Use CAD software (Autodesk Inventor) to design and modify technical drawings for new and existing systems.
3. Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers to ensure that drawings reflect design intent and meet performance and technical criteria.
4. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all technical drawings and ensure documentation is up-to-date.
5. Revisions & Updates: Update and refine drawings based on feedback from engineers, testing teams, and other departments.
6. Manufacturing Support: Provide clear and precise drawings to the manufacturing team, ensuring they meet production and quality standards.
7. Standards Compliance: Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, military specifications, and regulatory requirements.
8. Material Specifications: Assist the design team by specifying materials, dimensions, and tolerances to ensure proper manufacturing and assembly of components.
9. Team Support: Support senior draughtsmen and design engineers during the design and development process.
10. Project Management: Assist in managing the design process from concept to production, ensuring timelines, budgets, and technical requirements are met.

Required Skills:

1. Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor is preferred).
2. Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical systems and components.
3. Ability to read and interpret engineering designs and schematics.
4. High attention to detail and precision in producing accurate drawings.
5. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues in assembly and manufacturing processes.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Mechanical Engineering Degree (Essential).
2. Matric with average of 85% or higher (Essential).
