Tailings Engineer

Job Description: WSP has a new opportunity for a Tailings Engineer to join our Mine Waste team on a full-time basis in Midrand.

This is an intermediate-level position within our consulting team, regarded as a professional role in delivering tailings and geotechnical services, aligned with WSP's engineering standards.

Key duties and responsibilities:

1. Provide tailings services and technical advice on complex issues within the mining industry.
2. Manage, analyze, and report on tailings and geotechnical data, including design, inspection, and operation of mine waste storage facilities.
3. Participate in planning, developing schedules, and overseeing manpower on engineering projects.
4. Mentor junior staff and contribute to proposals and reports.
5. Ensure safety leadership and participate in training activities.
6. Maintain understanding of business systems related to quality.

Qualifications:

• Relevant degree (BEng or BSc) in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with 8+ years of experience.
• Professional registration at ECSA preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office and specialized software (slope stability analysis, seepage analysis, etc.).
