Position Summary
The Systems Operations Engineer (Voice Infrastructure) will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and optimization of TRUENAV’s voice-centric systems. The role includes advanced fault analysis, capacity management, automation of routine tasks, and contribution to longer-term infrastructure strategy. This position forms part of a rotating after-hours standby schedule.
Operational Duties
- Execute daily health-checks covering monitoring dashboards, log reviews, backup verification, and security events.
- Resolve third-line support incidents across voice, network, Linux, and hypervisor layers.
- Monitor Proxmox clusters,Asterisk servers, SBCs, and carrier interconnects; initiate corrective action before SLA thresholds are reached.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks using Ansible/Puppet, or comparable tooling.
Strategic & Project-Based Duties
- Lead and implement enhancements to SIP core, SBC policies, and virtualization environments.
- Contribute to scalability initiatives (e.g., multi-region fail-over, Storage expansion).
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance, patch management, and post-incident reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and produce technical documentation, training guides, and knowledge-base articles.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience in VoIP operations involving Asterisk or FreeSWITCH,PortaONE, and SIP/RTP troubleshooting.
- Advanced Linux administration (Debian/Ubuntu or RHEL/CentOS.
- Strong knowledge of IP networking (VLANs, QoS, NAT traversal) and voice protocols (SIP, RTP, IAX).
- Proficiency in virtualization and storage technologies (KVM/Proxmox, Ceph, snapshot and replication strategies, backup/DR).
- Demonstrated capability in scripting and automation.
- Experience with observability stacks (Grafana, Graylog, VoIPmonitor, Zabbix).
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Exposure to PortaBilling, 3CX, or Microsoft Teams Direct Routing.
- Knowledge of voice-fraud detection and mitigation techniques (fail2ban, rate-limit policies, SIP analytics).
