Systems Engineer (CORE Services)
Location: Midrand
Duration: 12 months
Main Responsibilities
- Compile detailed deployment plans with step-by-step technical instructions for change implementations.
- Successfully implement deployment plans, whether self-compiled or provided by other engineers.
- Participate in delivery and support of innovative projects within the telecommunications industry, assisting with analysis and design of new roll-outs, releases, and patches.
- Support integration and deployment of new interfaces, solutions, and innovations.
- Assist in managing large, complex projects to ensure system dependencies are technically sound and meet requirements.
- Enable new features via APIs and system integrations.
- Collaborate with architects and service designers to develop new solutions and leverage platform capabilities.
Qualifications and Experience
- 7-8 years of engineering experience in a financial services environment.
- Expertise in system support, DevOps practices, and automation tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of ITIL Service Operations and Agile methodology; ITIL V4 Certification and Scrum fundamentals are advantageous.
- Experience with mobile money systems, integrations, or financial systems.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle pressure.
- Good presentation skills, proactive, and self-motivated.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across software, hardware, and network environments.
- Experience with change implementation processes.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools, log analysis, and remote troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with ticketing/support systems like JIRA, Zendesk, or ServiceNow.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Customer-centric mindset and passion for customer service.
