Job summary

HENSOLDT South Africa is seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to contribute to the full lifecycle, from requirements to verification and management activities. The role is onsite in Centurion, requiring hands-on analysis and cross‑disciplinary collaboration to deliver robust system architectures.

The ideal candidate will have a BSc/BEng in an engineering field with 3–5 years of experience and may hold advanced degrees or System Life Cycle training.

Qualifications

• BSc/BEng in Electronic, Software, Mechanical or related Engineering field is required.
• BSc/BEng (Hons) or MSc/MEng advantageous for the role.
• Minimum 3 years’, preferably 5 years’, experience in advanced engineering environments with complex architectures.
• Formal training in System Life Cycle Management is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Define and manage system requirements and architectures within the systems engineering framework to ensure traceability, alignment, and compliance with stakeholder, functional, and physical design expectations.
• Support the development of system‑level technical solutions within design, cost, schedule, and regulatory constraints to ensure compliant, supportable, manufacturable, and safe system outcomes.
• Conduct system analyses, modelling, simulations, and trade‑off studies within the engineering lifecycle to optimise system performance, inform design decisions, and ensure robust risk and cost management.
• Support system integration, testing, verification, validation, and lifecycle activities within defined engineering processes to ensure successful system realisation, performance compliance, and operational readiness.
• Coordinate technical governance, stakeholder engagement, and project support activities within programme and engineering environments to ensure alignment, effective communication, risk management, and delivery against project objectives

Key Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, processes, and lifecycle activities, including requirements, design, integration, verification, and validation within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
• Ability to extract, interpret, analyse, and manage system requirements, ensuring traceability and alignment across system architectures and lifecycle stages.
• Proficiency in system architecture development, system modelling, and performance analysis, supported by a solid foundation in mathematics, physical sciences, and engineering principles.
• Ability to utilise systems engineering tools for requirements management and system performance modelling to support effective design, analysis, and decision-making.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to rapidly acquire and apply system‑specific knowledge in complex technical environments.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Governance, Stakeholder & Project Support Coordinate technical governance, stakeholder engagement, and project support activities within programme and engineering environments to ensure alignment, effective communication, risk management, and delivery against project objectives
