Our Innovative Analysis Team is seeking senior-level Systems Analysts for contract opportunities within the financial services sector, with a strong focus on Payments-related projects.
This is a highly technical role, ideal for Systems Analysts who can confidently translate complex business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications for development teams. You’ll work in fast-paced environments, supporting banking and payments transformation initiatives such as cross-border payments, real-time payments, card-based transactions, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and design solutions for complex systems enhancements and integrations across multiple teams and platforms.
- Lead and facilitate functional/system design sessions to produce comprehensive functional and system specs.
- Work closely with developers, architects, QA, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on requirements and solutions.
- Design and update integration messages (web services, XML schemas, APIs, flat files).
- Write SQL queries and assist with database structure analysis and design.
- Model system designs using UML 2.5 (use case, activity, sequence, component, and interface diagrams).
- Translate business needs into actionable system-level requirements (or co-create these when not provided).
- Mentor and guide other analysts, contributing to a high-performance, knowledge-sharing culture.
- Participate in agile delivery (Scrum, SAFe, or similar) and support monthly or frequent production releases.
Payments Domain & Technical Expertise:
- Solid exposure to and hands-on experience with traditional and emerging cross-border payment rails, including SWIFT.
- Strong understanding of international payment infrastructures and rails is highly advantageous.
- Ideally experienced in ISO20022 messaging standards (e.g., PAIN, PACS, CAMT) and legacy SWIFT MT series (MT100, MT200, MT900).
- Familiar with SAMOS and local market infrastructure for RTGS cross-border payments.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of the Payments Modernisation landscape and evolving industry standards.
- Proven ability to lead or contribute to requirements sessions involving financial payment flows and account postings.
- Strong understanding of Balance of Payments (BoP) reporting, Financial Surveillance (Finsurv), exchange controls, and cross-border regulatory requirements.
- Experience with integration technologies interfacing with the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) or Finsurv platforms.
- Solid experience in cross-border payments and/or Forex projects.
Experience & Skills Required:
- 10+ years of Systems Analysis experience, ideally in financial services.
- 4–5 years experience in Payments or Forex domain projects within a banking environment.
- Strong technical background: integration design, API specs, SQL, system design modelling.
- Experience working across both “Run the Bank” and “Change the Bank” initiatives.
- Confident in end-to-end project analysis: from requirements gathering to production handover.
- Proficient in stakeholder management across business, tech, QA, and architecture teams.
