Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas

The UWC’s Information and Communication Services (ICS) Department play a pivotal role in delivering ICT services that enable and support the University’s strategic goals and objectives. ICS, in line with growing its capability and supporting the Digital Transformation Strategy of UWC, offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced System Administrator in the ICS Applications Development & Support unit.

The primary purpose of the System Support Administrator is to attend to everyday related user systems support issues, like FAQs, common difficulties, and time-sensitive queries. The aim is to solve user problems at the first point of contact so that the they can continue with their day as soon as possible.

The key role and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Review, prioritise the resolution of technical issues, incidents
  • Resolve support requests where possible
  • Refer and escalate requests that cannot be resolved
  • Provide technical support to System Owners and system related users
  • Assist with knowledge transfer to new users
  • Record and report on user issues including the troubleshoot processes followed
  • Render assistive support in defining user requirements
  • Guide users to make use of self-help services
  • Adhere to best practices and standards
  • Record and facilitate the process of logging users technical requests
  • Manage the Service desk requests and capture user interaction
  • Assist in the schedule and maintenance of regular user sessions and supplier sessions
  • Provide inputs in regards to the development of the User Training Manuals
  • Be an active member of the User Group and support users in translating their user requirements and expectations for IT or the supplier to resolve

Minimum Requirements

  • Senior Certificate with at least 5 years demonstratable experience in administration and support of ERP applications.
  • NQF level 6 qualification or equivalent qualification through RPL with at least 3-years+ Demonstratable experience in administration and support of ERP applications.
  • Relevant industry recognised certifications

Experience

  • 3-years+ Demonstratable experience in administration and support of ERP applications.
  • Demonstratable competence using Microsoft Office products like MS word and excel.
