Systems Accountant
The Systems Accountant will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems and processes that ensure effective and efficient processing of financial and non-financial data. They will further expand the range of management tools and reports used to inform the business.
The Systems Accountant will provide support to the finance and technical teams, ensuring effective operation and delivery of high-quality service to the wider group. The successful candidate will support and report to the Technical Finance Manager, working closely with other members of the Technical Team to ensure the effective delivery of its overall aims and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day systems support and issue resolution.
- Oversee, manage, review, and challenge all appropriate financial and non-financial systems with the Technical Finance Manager, proactively identifying cross-division opportunities for efficiency.
- Configure proper systems access for the Group to optimise controls.
- Manage/support project teams to implement new systems and update existing ones.
- Test internal processes and procedures and document them once approved.
- Deliver system training for finance and non-financial staff, covering core transactional and ancillary processes.
- Review current systems/interfaces, forms, and procedures; propose solutions to streamline and reduce manual intervention.
- Support the Technical Finance Manager in ensuring internal controls are fit for purpose, enforced, monitored, and improved where applicable.
- Collaborate with CFO and Financial Managers to design and develop management reports to better inform the business.
- Ensure the integrity of supplier payment runs and conduct investigations as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records, filing, and audit trails of activities undertaken.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors and system developers.
- Provide additional financial support and analysis as required.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in accounts or similar roles.
- Degree in commerce, business, accounting, or IT.
- Experience in systems development and finance systems.
- Broad experience with accounting systems and ERP systems (Sage preferred).
- Experience working in project and BAU environments.
- Property industry experience is beneficial.
- Ability to collaborate and train finance staff.
- Advanced skills in computer software, including Excel macros.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current trends in finance practices.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent literacy and communication skills for financial reporting.
- Ability to manage a demanding workload with conflicting priorities.
- Leadership and supervisory capabilities.
