Systems Accountant

The Systems Accountant will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems and processes that ensure effective and efficient processing of financial and non-financial data. They will also work to expand the range of management tools and reports used to inform the business.

The Systems Accountant will support the finance and technical teams, ensuring effective operation and delivery of high-quality services to the wider group. The successful candidate will report to the Technical Finance Manager and collaborate with other members of the Technical Team to achieve its goals and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

1. Provide day-to-day systems support and resolve issues.
2. Oversee, manage, review, and challenge all relevant financial and non-financial systems with the Technical Finance Manager, proactively seeking cross-division efficiency opportunities.
3. Configure system access for the Group to optimize controls.
4. Manage/support project teams in implementing new systems and updating existing ones.
5. Test and document internal processes and procedures.
6. Deliver system training to finance and non-financial staff, covering core transactional and ancillary processes.
7. Review current systems, interfaces, forms, and procedures, and propose streamlining solutions to reduce manual intervention.
8. Support the Technical Finance Manager in ensuring internal controls are fit for purpose, enforced, monitored, and improved where applicable.
9. Collaborate with CFO and Financial Managers to design and develop management reports for better business insights.
10. Ensure the integrity of supplier payment runs and conduct investigations as necessary.
11. Maintain accurate records, filing, and audit trails of activities undertaken.
12. Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors and system developers.
13. Provide additional financial support and analysis as needed.

Requirements

1. 2-5 years of experience in accounts or a similar field.
2. Degree in commerce, business, accounting, or IT.
3. Experience in systems development and finance systems.
4. Broad knowledge of accounting systems and ERP systems (Sage preferred).
5. Experience working in project and BAU environments.
6. Property industry experience is beneficial.
7. Ability to collaborate and train finance staff.
8. Advanced computer skills, including Excel macros.
9. Up-to-date knowledge of finance trends and practices.
10. Strong analytical, numerical, and interpersonal skills.
11. Excellent literacy and communication skills.
12. Ability to manage conflicting workload demands.
13. Leadership and supervisory capabilities.
