Job summary : To provide specialist high-level technical advice, high-level problem resolution of complex problems, system security, and policy implementation monitoring.

Overview of the role and requirements : The successful candidate must have 3-5 years' experience in a similar role.

An IMS Systems Programmer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and optimizing IBM's Information Management System (IMS) on mainframe environments.

Linux experience would be beneficial.

Programming experience on JCL (none negotiable), REXX (none negotiable), COBOL (beneficial), Assembler (beneficial).

You will be responsible for :

  • Driving business profitability through cost-effective IT solutions.
  • Increasing operational efficiency and suggesting solutions for cost management.
  • Providing exceptional service by resolving queries quickly and effectively.
  • Managing relationships with stakeholders, including end-users, SMEs, project managers, and senior staff.
  • Providing second-level standby and complex problem resolution, interfacing with vendor support.
  • Monitoring system security policy implementation and providing high-level technical advice.
  • Monitoring changes in legislation, regulations, and industry practices.
  • Drafting and implementing appropriate interventions and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
  • Assessing and mitigating risks within the IT environment, drafting policies and procedures.
  • Managing systems capacity, infrastructure upgrades, and suggesting technological improvements.
  • Planning system upgrades, applying patches, and migrating changes to live environments.
  • Continuing personal development to enhance competencies.
