Job summary : To provide specialist high-level technical advice, high-level problem resolution of complex problems, system security, and policy implementation monitoring.

Overview of the role and requirements : The successful candidate must have 3-5 years' experience in a similar role. An IMS Systems Programmer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and optimizing IBM's Information Management System (IMS) on mainframe environments. Linux experience would be beneficial.

Programming experience required : JCL (non-negotiable), REXX (non-negotiable), COBOL (beneficial), Assembler (beneficial).

Responsibilities include :

  1. Driving business profitability through cost-effective IT solutions.
  2. Increasing operational efficiency and suggesting solutions to enhance cost-effectiveness.
  3. Delivering exceptional service that exceeds customer expectations through proactive and innovative solutions.
  4. Managing relationships with stakeholders, including end-users, SMEs, project managers, and senior staff.
  5. Providing second-level standby and complex problem resolution by interfacing with vendor support.
  6. Monitoring system security policy implementation and providing high-level technical advice for complex problems.
  7. Monitoring changes in legislation, regulations, initiatives, and industry practices.
  8. Drafting and implementing appropriate interventions and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
  9. Assessing, identifying, and mitigating potential risks within the IT environment.
  10. Managing systems capacity, infrastructure upgrades, and suggesting changes.
  11. Researching and implementing new and existing technology solutions to meet business needs.
  12. Planning and executing system and release upgrades, testing, and migration to live environment.
  13. Continuing personal development to increase competencies.
  14. Gaining in-depth system/application knowledge to maximize contribution.

Candidate requirements :

  • 3-5 years in a similar role.
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot storage issues.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration and explaining technical concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Stakeholder management skills.
