Job summary

Diamond Key International Group is seeking a motivated System Engineer to support, implement, and maintain industrial systems within the Oil & Gas sector in Cape Town. You will administer Red Hat Linux, manage Oracle and SQL Server databases, perform testing and validation, and assist with rollouts, upgrades and training.

Collaboration with TAS/TMS and field devices is essential to ensure reliability and security.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience as a System Engineer or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Red Hat Linux OS.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle and SQL Server.
• Strong SQL scripting and stored procedure development skills.
• Experience in software testing and system validation.
• Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols.
• Knowledge of Oil & Gas storage and distribution processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for a motivated System Engineer with 2-5 years of experience (fresh graduates are welcome to apply) to support, implement, and maintain industrial systems within the Oil & Gas / Fuel storage and distribution environment.

What You\'ll Do

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot systems running on Red Hat Linux.
• Manage and support Oracle and SQL Server databases, including SQL scripting and stored procedures.
• Perform software testing, validation, and support system commissioning activities.
• Participate in system rollouts, upgrades, and migrations from legacy systems.
• Support FAT, SAT, and deliver end-user training.
• Work with Terminal Automation Systems (TAS) and Terminal Management Systems (TMS).
• Interface with field devices and controllers, including Preset Batch Controllers (Accuload III, Accuload IV, Multiload, Microload).
• Support Truck and Rail loading/offloading skids and related automation systems.
• Develop and analyse operational data, supporting data analytics and reporting.
• Design and support report development (e.g., SAP Crystal Reports, Jasper).
• Ensure system integration using Modbus TCP, Modbus Serial, and RESTful APIs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and security.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience as a System Engineer or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Red Hat Linux OS.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle and SQL Server.
• Strong SQL scripting and stored procedure development skills.
• Experience in software testing and system validation.
• Solid understanding of industrial communication protocols.
• Strong knowledge of Oil & Gas storage and distribution business processes (highly preferred).
• Exposure to Truck/Rail loading operations is a strong advantage.

• Experience with data analytics tools or methodologies.
• Experience with TAS/TMS solutions.
• Experience with SCADA/PLC solutions.
• Experience with preset batch controllers (Accuload III/IV, Multiload, Microload).
• Reporting experience using SAP Crystal Reports, Jasper, or similar tools.
