Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Sustainability Program Officer to develop, implement, and oversee regional sustainability initiatives in Upington, Northern Cape. You will collaborate with communities, businesses, and government to promote eco-friendly practices and responsible resource management.

The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of sustainability principles, project management, and communication skills, with a passion for environmental stewardship and regional impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability Studies, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience developing and managing sustainability programs or projects.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, environmental regulations, and conservation practices.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.
• Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
• Experience in community engagement and education is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a field-oriented environment.
• Local knowledge of the environmental challenges and opportunities within the Northern Cape is a significant advantage.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic sustainability programs and projects.
• Conduct research on environmental issues and identify opportunities for sustainable development.
• Engage with stakeholders, including community members, businesses, and government officials, to promote sustainability practices.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
• Organize and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and community awareness campaigns on sustainability topics.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of sustainability programs, providing regular reports.
• Identify and pursue funding opportunities for sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to achieve program goals.
• Represent the organization at relevant meetings, conferences, and events in Upington and surrounding areas.
