Our client, a prominent player in the manufacturing and automotive components sector, is seeking an accomplished Sustainability Manager to lead the development, execution, and reporting of Group-wide ESG and sustainability strategies.This Johannesburg-based role offers the opportunity to engage at board level, influence key business decisions, and drive transformation across a diverse group of subsidiaries.

It's an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker who thrives in a high-impact, performance-driven environment.Key Responsibilities : Strategic ESG & Sustainability Leadership : Drive the implementation of the Group's sustainability vision and initiatives across all subsidiaries.

Prepare the business for upcoming regulatory frameworks including IFRS S1 and S2, King IV, and the Companies Act.Sustainability Governance & RACMs : Roll out sustainability-related Risk and Control Matrices (RACMs) across the Group and ensure robust internal controls and compliance mechanisms.Environmental Impact & Climate Resilience : Develop and execute plans to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions and improve Scope 3 emissions disclosures.

Lead climate resilience planning and monitoring.Integrated & ESG Reporting : Coordinate sustainability audits, carbon footprint assessments, and quarterly ESG performance reporting to the Board and Social & Ethics Committee.

Oversee external ESG assurance processes and facilitate integrated reporting aligned to CDP, GRI, TCFD, SDGs, and JSE Listings Requirements.Stakeholder Engagement : Serve as the key point of contact for ESG rating agencies (including MSCI, Sustainalytics, S&P Global, and Bloomberg), shareholders, and internal stakeholders.

Prepare and present ESG reports and responses to external ESG questionnaires.B-BBEE Strategy & Reporting : Support the Group's consolidated B-BBEE audit verification process, monitor compliance with transformation legislation, and prepare reports aligned to B-BBEE Codes and Scorecard.Experience : Proven experience leading sustainability or ESG initiatives within a listed or complex multi-subsidiary environment.Hands-on exposure to key sustainability reporting and disclosure frameworks including TCFD, CDP, GRI, SDGs, and integrated reporting.Strong knowledge of RACMs and experience in implementing sustainability control environments.Prior involvement with external ESG assurance processes and reporting to ESG rating agencies.Familiarity with B-BBEE verification processes and transformation legislation.Track record of producing board-level reports and engaging with executive and governance stakeholders.Advanced data analysis, project coordination, and sustainability reporting capabilities are essential.Educational Requirements : A relevant degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Governance, Business, or related field is required.Postgraduate qualifications in sustainability, ESG, or governance would be advantageous.Strong working knowledge of South African legislation and global ESG standards.If you are passionate about sustainability, governance, and making a measurable impact in a dynamic, listed organisation - then this role is for you.
