Duties & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Sustainability Lead who will take a comprehensive leadership role in our responsible sourcing and sustainability programs. This individual will oversee farm visits, environmental, transparency, and ethical audits, ensuring detailed reporting and compliance while fostering direct trade relationships. The role also extends to people and community-focused initiatives, ensuring our workforce and industry stakeholders receive top-tier sustainability education and training.

Full-Time, On-site position with travelling frequently to growing regions internationally.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible Sourcing & Ethical Standards

Lead farm visits and supplier audits (environmental, social, and ethical) to uphold industry benchmarks.

Oversee traceability and transparency initiatives (including blockchain-based tracking).

Manage direct trade relationships, with a focus impact-driven partnerships.

Drive annual sustainability reporting, impact measurement, and compliance.

Environmental Management & Zero Waste Roadmap

Develop and execute carbon reduction strategies and explore a carbon-neutral coffee line.

Implement waste audits across the business and lead the Zero Waste Factory roadmap.

Spearhead projects such as solar energy, water conservation, and packaging sustainability.

Oversee compliance with environmental regulations and certifications.

People, Training & Community Impact

Design and lead training programs in sustainability and green coffee expertise.

Support the development of leadership and workforce wellness initiatives.

Build, expand, and execute community-driven projects such as:

  • Barista in Schools Program
  • Unemployed Youth – Diversity Coffee Fellowship
  • Sustainability Week/Festival
  • Social Impact Projects (Blood drives, Clothing Exchange, Book Drives, etc.)

Project Management & Strategic Development

Lead and manage sustainability projects from concept to execution.

Ensure alignment with global sustainability standards and best practices.

Work cross-functionally with leadership, operations, and sourcing teams.

Maintain an always-audit-ready approach in sustainability reporting.

Who You Are

Academic & Agricultural Expertise – Degree in agriculture, environmental sciences, sustainability, or a related field.

Industry Experience – 5+ years in sustainability, responsible sourcing, supply chain ethics, or coffee/agriculture.

Project Management Skills – Ability to develop, implement, and manage sustainability projects with measurable impact.

Strong Communicator & Relationship Builder – Comfortable engaging with farmers, suppliers, corporate leaders, and community stakeholders.

Travel-Ready – Frequent travel to remote locations for on-the-ground implementation.

Forward-Thinking & Bold – Ability to drive innovation, challenge the status quo, and create industry-leading sustainability practices.

Culturally Aware & Business-Savvy – Understands African supply chain dynamics, economies of scale, and coffee industry nuances.

Humble & Objective – A strong but approachable leader with a balanced, insightful approach to challenges.
