Job summary

A leading environmental consulting firm is seeking an Environmental Consultant to manage assessments and audits. The ideal candidate will have a BSc Honours degree, extensive experience in environmental consulting, and proficiency in GIS software. This role involves leading project teams, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation. The position requires a willingness to travel and work extended hours as necessary.

  • In-depth knowledge of NEMA and related legislation.

Job description

Minimum Requirements :

  1. BSc Honours Degree in an environmental discipline (MSc advantageous).
  2. Minimum five years relevant environmental consulting experience.
  3. Registered with the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA).
  4. SACNASP Professional Registration.
  5. Demonstrated experience in BAs, EIAs, WULAs, Environmental Auditing, and ECO functions.
  6. Proficiency in GIS software.
  7. Strong scientific report writing and documentation skills.
  8. Experience in proposal and tender compilation and management.
  9. In-depth knowledge of NEMA, the National Water Act (Act 36 of ), and related legislation and guidelines.
  10. Valid Drivers License and own vehicle.
  11. Willingness to travel extensively and work extended hours as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  1. Prepare and manage environmental applications and assessments including BAs, EIAs, and WULAs.
  2. Conduct environmental audits and perform duties as an ECOpile high-quality scientific and technical reports.
  3. Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary project teams.
  4. Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
  5. Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and internal procedures.
  6. Contribute to business development through the preparation of tenders and proposals.
  7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant environmental regulations and best practices.
  8. Provide input into strategic planning and environmental risk assessments.
  9. Travel to project sites as required.
