Job description

Key Performance Areas
  • Manage surgical procurement by placing orders online and telephonically with suppliers.
  • Source and borrow urgent stock from other hospitals when required.
  • Coordinate the transport of stock from other hospitals to ensure timely delivery.
  • Issue and maintain out-of-stock notifications promptly when items are unavailable.
  • Supervise surgical stores staff and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Liaise with company representatives to negotiate competitive pricing and explore new product options.
  • Verify and sign for all goods received from suppliers.
  • Oversee and assist with monthly stock take, ensuring accurate counts.
  • Ensure all to follow items are prioritized, processed, and delivered promptly to the wards or theatre.
  • Authorize and process stock transfers to other hospitals within the group as requested.
  • Reconcile invoices with original purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Investigate and resolve any stock variances in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Must have Grade 12 qualification.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Preferably a certificate in business administration.
  • Experience in managing the purchase of surgical instruments, devices, and other medical supplies.
  • Must have at least 5 years of surgical buying experience in a pharmacy.
