Based at our Sheltered Scheme at Park Court Walkergate

Earn £12.60 per hour (£24,638 per annum) pro rata and enjoy great benefits including a Health Cash Plan.

This role was previously for full-time hours but is now part-time only.

As our Support Worker, you'll be at the heart of supporting our customers with complex needs to develop their skills to live more independently in the community. Typical day as our Support Worker

  • Assisting customers with practical housing tasks to support them in maintaining their tenancy.
  • Working with Older People Services for customers over 55 years old with housing support needs.
  • Signposting customers to relevant services when needed.
  • Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting, and regular reviews.
  • Engaging in casual chats and catch-ups. There's no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You bring

  • Passion to support our customers to live their best lives, with attention to detail.
  • Experience caring for others; previous work in care or caring for family members or children is valued.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, remain calm under pressure, and have a resilient approach.
  • An understanding that each customer is unique, with the flexibility to adopt a personal approach, listening to understand their needs.

Due to current limitations on our certificates of sponsorship, we are unable to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role. This is under regular review.

Our team

You will join Susan and our Newcastle Older People team. We're passionate about what we do! We're proud of working with customers who love raising money for charities through activities like coffee mornings. We're a supportive group and like to keep in touch via Teams daily and in person as much as possible.

Job details

  • Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am to 2:30 pm; Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Although you'll work alone, we regularly gather for training and team meetings.
  • Proficiency in using technology to update support plans, complete online learning, and collaborate with colleagues is required.
  • An Enhanced DBS check is necessary, and we will cover the cost.
