Position Summary:

Our team in Johannesburg is a dynamic part of our operations, and we are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Supply Chain Manager to join us and help maintain and elevate our quality standards across all aspects of the business.

Position Summary:
The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the entire supply chain to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service excellence. This individual will play a vital leadership role in sourcing, procurement, logistics, inventory control, and supplier management. The ideal candidate will bring strategic vision and operational discipline to improve performance across the value chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Supply Chain Leadership

  • Develop and implement a robust supply chain strategy aligned with operational and business goals.
  • Optimize procurement, logistics, warehousing, and distribution functions for cost efficiency and performance.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the supply chain.

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Oversee the sourcing and procurement of materials, components, and services.
  • Manage supplier relationships, contracts, and negotiations to ensure best value, quality, and reliability.
  • Develop supplier performance metrics and lead regular evaluations and improvement actions.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Ensure effective inventory control processes are in place to support production and minimize holding costs.
  • Monitor inventory levels and implement demand planning and forecasting techniques.
  • Manage materials flow and ensure accuracy of inventory data through ERP systems.

Logistics & Distribution

  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely delivery of materials and finished goods.
  • Collaborate with logistics providers and transport companies to manage costs and service levels.
  • Address logistical challenges and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the supply chain team to achieve high performance.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Set and monitor team KPIs aligned with organizational targets.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local and international trade regulations.
  • Identify and manage risks within the supply chain including disruptions, shortages, and compliance breaches.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting in line with audit and regulatory requirements.

Technology & Systems

  • Champion the use of ERP and supply chain management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to drive efficiency.
  • Identify and implement digital transformation opportunities across the supply chain.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 8-10 years' experience in supply chain roles, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior management position.
  • Proven track record of managing complex supply chain operations in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, logistics, and inventory management best practices.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Background in heavy industry, rail, automotive, or engineering sectors.
