PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are seeking a Supply Chain Finance Manager to join our growing Logistics team. To provide senior financial leadership and partnership across supply chain and logistics. The role ensures robust financial governance, accurate budgeting and forecasting, and actionable performance insights. It is accountable for driving cost efficiency, enabling informed decision-making, and ensuring alignment of supply chain operations with business financial goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supply Chain & Logistics Metrics
·Develop, track, and report on KPIs such as:
·Fleet utilisation and efficiency
·Overtime and labour efficiency
·Stock losses, shrinkage, and expiries
·Warehouse productivity
·Analyse trends, provide actionable insights, and drive corrective actions to improve financial and operational performance.
·Setup and issue of store expense reporting (P&L)
·Identify trends and leading indicators for overspending
·Create margin expense management to improve efficiencies.
·Assist in cost allocations and report on Capital expenses (trends and metrics)
·Deliver decision-ready reports for Exco, highlighting risks, opportunities, and benefit realisation.
3. Governance & Financial Controls
·Implement governance frameworks for key cost areas including overtime, fleet, and inventory losses.
·Apply exception-based reporting to highlight risks in shrinkage, labour efficiency, and underutilisation of resources.
·Maintain strong financial controls ensuring compliance with audit requirements across all supply chain functions.
·Lead the annual budgeting cycle for all supply chain and logistics cost centres.
·Prepare rolling forecasts incorporating volume shifts, labour demand, route changes, and warehouse requirements.
·Provide proactive early-warning insights and recommend corrective actions for cost overruns or service risks.
·5. Financial Business Case Development
·Develop financial business cases to support major supply chain initiatives, including:
·Lease vs own decisions for fleet and facilities
·Opex vs capex evaluations for new warehouses, fleet expansions, and systems (e.g., WMS, automation, surveillance)
·Payback, ROI, and IRR modelling for strategic projects
·Cost-benefit analysis of fleet reviews, pallet strategy, and security upgrades
·Partner with project leads to ensure financial rigour in initiatives such as the National Network Optimisation Model and Warehouse of the Future.
6. Systems, Data & Reporting Automation
·Oversee automation of supply chain reporting including R/kg, OTIF, shrinkage, and overtime.
·Support deployment of WMS, barcode scanning, and automated clocking systems to improve data integrity.
·Maintain and enhance a cost-to-serve model to support pricing, delivery frequency, and customer profitability decisions.
·Support with system selection processes for new WMS, ERP and inventory software.
7. People & Labour Productivity Metrics
·Measure and report on:
·Absenteeism and chronic underperformance
·Align warehouse incentive schemes and labour efficiency initiatives to business financial goals.
·Support seasonal labour planning and union engagement strategies with financial insights.
8. Weekly & Monthly Performance Reporting
·Deliver accurate weekly/monthly reports covering:
·Provide root cause analysis with action plans to close performance gaps.
9. Continuous Improvement & Business Projects
·Provide financial oversight and tracking for projects such as:
·Track and report benefit realisation against baseline metrics.
10. People & Culture
·Champion the Ho Hola culture of transparency, accountability, and execution.
·Drive performance management processes aligned to supply chain and business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
·B.Comm in Finance/Accounting; Honours, CIMA, or MBA advantageous.
·7–10 years’ senior finance experience in retail or FMCG supply chain/logistics.
·Proven expertise in financial modelling, scenario planning, and cost optimisation.
·Experience in lease vs own, opex vs capex analysis, and ROI/IRR modelling for large-scale supply chain projects.
·Proficient with ERP systems and BI tools (Power BI).
