Job summary

Humankind Group in Johannesburg seeks an experienced Supply Chain Director to lead end-to-end operations across manufacturing, distribution, demand and replenishment planning, logistics and customer service. As a member of the local executive team, you will shape business strategy, strengthen operational performance, and build a high‑performing, customer-focused organisation.

Travel to the United States and Europe may be required.

Qualifications

• University degree in SCM or related field or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of management experience, including 5 years in senior leadership in a unionised manufacturing/distribution environment.
• Experience in international business; FMCG or cosmetics experience is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing, logistics, forecasting, finance, and continuous improvement.
• Proven change management, project management, and warehouse systems experience; imports/exports beneficial.
• SAP experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing, engineering, distribution, warehousing, logistics, and supply planning.
• Direct demand planning and S&OP to improve forecast accuracy and product availability.
• Oversee budgets, COGS, inventory, and working capital.
• Improve service levels, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency through CI.
• Lead new product launches, transitions, supplier initiatives, and projects.
• Maintain compliance with legislation, safety, quality, GMP.

We’re seeking an experienced Supply Chain Director to lead end-to-end supply chain operations for a major South African business. This senior leadership role spans manufacturing, distribution, demand and replenishment planning, logistics, and customer service.

As a member of the local executive team and regional supply chain leadership team, you’ll shape business strategy, strengthen operational performance, and build a high-performing, customer-focused organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing, engineering, distribution, warehousing, logistics, and supply planning.
• Direct demand planning and the sales and operations planning process, improving forecast accuracy and product availability.
• Oversee budgets, financial performance, cost of goods, inventory, and working capital.
• Improve service levels, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency through continuous improvement.
• Lead new product launches, product transitions, supplier initiatives, and supply chain projects.
• Maintain compliance with applicable legislation, safety requirements, quality standards, and good manufacturing practices.
• Develop leaders and teams, build strong cross-functional partnerships, and contribute to executive decision-making.

What you’ll bring

• A university degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 10 years’ management experience, including 5 years in senior leadership within a unionised manufacturing, packaging, distribution, or turnkey operations environment.
• Experience in an international business; FMCG or cosmetics experience is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing and delivery operations, materials management, logistics, forecasting, financial planning, and continuous improvement.
• Experience with change management, project management, warehouse systems, and imports and exports.
• SAP experience is an advantage.
• A strategic, commercially minded leadership style, with a track record of building effective teams and delivering results.

The role may require travel to the United States and Europe.
