Job summary

Premier FMCG (Pty) Ltd in Vereeniging seeks an experienced Route Supervisor to maximise route potential and ensure profitable availability. You will lead a team of Salesman Drivers and Sales Assistants, managing route sales, crates, PODs, and driver performance with daily coaching.

The role requires 3+ years in FMCG sales supervision, strong customer service orientation, and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with GIS and telematics is advantageous; willingness to work flexible hours is expected.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of Sales Supervisory experience in FMCG with strong customer service focus.
• Computer literate.
• Geographic Information Systems knowledge.
• Advanced Excel user.
• Route Planning systems experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of geospatial data.
• Routing and distribution optimization experience.
• Working knowledge of vehicle telematics technology & software.
• People management experience with all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

• Allocate drivers and vehicles to enable daily route monitoring, driver debriefing and reporting on planned vs. actual routes.
• Daily route management of bakery delivery vehicles.
• Analyse and report on operational and customer service trends.
• Ensure DRM systems (e.g., Vigil/Mix Telematics) are functional.
• Report daily, weekly and monthly KPI hit rates, departures times, and kilometre data.
• Control driver shortages and outstanding crates.
• Oversee the overall management of drivers and sales assistants.

Job Purpose

To maximize the route potential thus ensuring profitable availability. Managing route sales, driver shorts, crates and PODs through your team consisting of Salesman Drivers and Sales Assistants. Daily couching of Salesman Drivers.

Key Responsibilities

• To ensure that Drivers and Vehicles are allocated correctly to enable daily route monitoring, driver debriefing and reporting on the planned vs. actual route adherence.
• Daily Route Management of bakery delivery vehicles.
• To analyse & report on operational and customer service trends.
• To ensure all systems supporting DRM are functional, e.g. (Vigil & Mix Telematics)
• Responsible for DRM System reporting to management of daily, weekly and monthly KPI's hit rates, departure times, excess kilometres, unplanned routes and kilometres.
• To control driver shortages
• To control outstanding crates
• Overall management of drivers and sales assistants

Experience And Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent
• Min 3 years Sales Supervisory experience, with a strong emphasis on Customer Service Execution in an FMCG environment.
• Computer Literate.
• Geographic Information Systems.
• Advanced Excel user.
• Route Planning systems, an advantage.
• Working knowledge of Geospatial data (Spatial Data).
• Routing and Distribution Optimization.
• Working knowledge of vehicle telematics technology & software.
• People management – experience with working with people at all levels of the organization
