Job Description
- Supervise routine analytical techniques and weighing of prills.
- Assist with the coordination of job progress and results between sections.
- Coordinate and supervise work across the Lab’s sections.
- Ensure proper handover during shift changes.
- Optimize the utilization of staff, equipment, and facilities within the department.
- Coordinate with technicians and operators to meet customer turnaround time requirements.
- Weigh prills using a micro-balance and record weights in the SLIMS system.
- Securely lock prills away in the safe at shift end.
- Report daily production figures to the Section Manager, including explanations and evidence for targets.
- Implement corrective actions for subordinates violating company rules & procedures, reporting to the Section Manager.
- Investigate irregularities/non-conformances, including improvement requests and client issues.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices to keep work areas clean.
- Comply with the company's QHSE policy.
- Understand and operate the LIMS system fully.
- Adhere to the Quality Management System (ISO17025 and SANAS).
- Respond promptly to client queries, providing appropriate feedback and conducting root cause analysis for problems.
- Assist in training new laboratory staff.
- Profile and batch jobs scheduled for daily shifts.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours as needed.
- Ensure overtime sheets are correctly completed and submitted for approval.
- Coordinate and supervise the production team.
- Assist in completing production reports.
- Evaluate and report analytical results.
- Stand in for senior staff during their absence (meetings, training, leave).
- Adhere to all quality and safety standards of SGS management system.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications
Education
- National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry.
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in the relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Management System.
