A leading company in the energy sector is seeking a Substation Maintenance Electrician to ensure the efficient operation of high-voltage substations. The role involves conducting regular maintenance and inspections, adhering to safety protocols, and providing technical support. Candidates should have a strong background in MV/HV systems and the ability to communicate effectively.
We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Maintenance Electrician to join our dynamic team at Siemens Energy . You will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP) components, including high-voltage substations and overhead lines. You will monitor the power plant via the Client’s Monitoring System, conduct inspections, perform testing, install and maintain MV / HV electrical systems, and produce weekly reports for the Project Manager.
Candidates must be based in or near Garob, Soetwater, or Karusa (Western / Northern Cape), or willing to relocate.
Key Responsibilities :
Conduct daily inspections, testing, and maintenance of MV / HV substation systems.
Ensure reliable operation of 132kV loop-in / loop-out connections.
Monitor plant performance and report operational data.
Comply with OH&S and ORHVS procedures and standards.
Serve as the technical advisor on site.
Maintain safety protocols in live substation environments.
Required Skills and Experience :
3+ years’ experience on Medium Voltage (MV) or High Voltage (HV) systems (3.3kV – 33kV+).
ORHVS trained and certified Responsible Person (RP).
Technical proficiency in substation drawings and EBOP systems.
Valid driver’s license and good written communication skills.
