Job summary

A leading independent school in Cape Town is seeking a Subject Head for Economic Management Sciences (EMS). This full-time permanent position, commencing January 2026, requires strong leadership skills and experience teaching EMS in Grades 7 – 9, with the ability to also teach Business Studies. The ideal candidate will be committed to the school’s academic ethos and able to participate in extracurricular activities.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered with SACE.
  • Experience teaching Economic Management Sciences in Grades 7 – 9.
  • Ability to teach Business Studies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the EMS curriculum.

United Herzlia Schools is a highly successful, independent, community Jewish Day School in Cape Town.

  • A minimum of a PGCE, B Ed or equivalent, with appropriate subject specialisation.
  • Be registered with SACE.
  • Have the required skills and experience to teach EMS in Grades 7 – 9.
  • Must have the ability to also teach Business Studies.
  • Strong leadership skills and a track record of leadership.
  • Able to work in an environment calling for differentiated teaching including teaching pupils on an educational support programme.
  • Be a committed and professional member of a dynamic and energetic team.
  • Be able to work with pupils in a nurturing way, in order to develop each one holistically.
  • Excellent administration, communication and organisational skills.
  • Willingness to participate in the school’s extra mural programme.
  • The ability to incorporate technology into teaching practice.
