Job summary

MSU Culinary Services is seeking a Fall Semester 2026 Student Cook to assist full-time staff with food preparation, cooking, and serving in South Dining.

You will follow all food safety standards and provide outstanding customer service to guests. The position requires being a student at MSU, weekend/night shifts, and able to stand for long periods in a high-volume dining environment.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University during the academic year.
• Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
• Must be positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population.
• Must be able to work nights and 1 shift every weekend, or two shifts every other weekend.

Starting Pay Rate

As a Fall Semester 2026 Student Cook, you will be responsible for assisting full‑time staff members with the preparation, cooking, and serving of food for all meal options for that venue. You must also be knowledgeable of all relevant food safety regulations, standards, and guidelines to ensure the safe handling and serving of all meals to customers. It is your job to make sure the guests of Culinary Services receive the most outstanding customer service

Preferred Qualifications
