Job summary

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of relevant structural modelling and draughting experience.
• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit for structural modelling and drawing production.
• Experience in a consulting engineering environment.
• Sound understanding of reinforced concrete and structural steel detailing.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, architectural drawings and structural design information.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain structural Revit models from engineers’ designs, sketches and mark-ups.
• Prepare structural layouts, general arrangement drawings, sections and construction details.
• Model reinforced concrete and structural steel elements, ensuring consistency between models and drawings.
• Coordinate structural models with architectural and building services information, identifying and flagging clashes or discrepancies.
• Work closely with structural engineers to resolve technical queries and incorporate design changes.
• Produce and update drawing sheets, schedules and associated documentation for project submissions and construction.
• Check drawings and models for accuracy, completeness and compliance with project drafting standards.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision records and organised project files.
• Follow project BIM requirements, modelling standards and document control procedures.
• Manage assigned deliverables to meet project deadlines.

Structural Revit Modeller

Location: Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal
Experience: 5–10 years

A consulting engineering firm in Umhlanga is seeking an experienced Structural Revit Modeller to support its structural engineering team in producing accurate models and drawings for building projects.

The role will suit someone with strong Revit skills, a sound understanding of structural detailing and the ability to translate engineers’ design information into coordinated technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain structural Revit models from engineers’ designs, sketches and mark-ups.
• Prepare structural layouts, general arrangement drawings, sections and construction details.
• Model reinforced concrete and structural steel elements, ensuring consistency between models and drawings.
• Coordinate structural models with architectural and building services information, identifying and flagging clashes or discrepancies.

• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, architectural drawings and structural design information.
• Experience coordinating models and drawings across disciplines.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while collaborating with engineers and other project team members.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills

• A relevant qualification in draughting, structural detailing, civil engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with BIM coordination tools such as Navisworks or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Experience working with linked models, shared coordinates and Revit worksharing.
