Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a leader in the development and construction of renewable energy infrastructure , is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to contribute to their growing wind energy division in the Stellenbosch, Western Cape area. This role focuses specifically on the design and analysis of foundations for wind turbines, ensuring their integrity and longevity in diverse environmental conditions. You will play a crucial part in the structural design phase of wind farm projects, collaborating with a team of multidisciplinary engineers. The hybrid nature of this role allows for strategic planning and analysis to be conducted remotely, while requiring on-site presence for essential design reviews, site visits, and team collaborations. This is a vital position contributing to the expansion of clean energy generation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural integrity of wind turbine foundations (e.g., gravity base, monopile, jacket).
• Perform detailed structural calculations using industry-standard software and methods.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant international and national structural codes and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, IEC standards).
• Conduct site-specific assessments of geotechnical and environmental conditions affecting foundation design.
• Collaborate closely with geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, and wind energy specialists.
• Prepare comprehensive design reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to technical queries during construction.

Requirements

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.

• Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
• Based in or willing to commute to Stellenbosch, Western Cape for required on-site work.
