Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a qualified Structural Engineer to provide technical expertise for construction projects in Vereeniging and across Gauteng. You will design, analyze, and assess structural components to ensure safety and compliance with SANS and building codes.

Collaborate with architects and project teams, perform calculations and prepare drawings, and monitor construction through site inspections. A strong track record (6+ years) and ECSA Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng registration are required.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in structural design and analysis for construction projects.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is required.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of SANS and building codes.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Structural Engineer to provide technical expertise for a range of construction projects in Vereeniging and across Gauteng . You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and assessment of structural components, ensuring safety, stability, and compliance with building codes and standards. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong ability to collaborate with architects, project managers, and construction teams to deliver innovative and sound structural solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for buildings and other construction projects using relevant software.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant building codes , standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate with architects and other engineers to integrate structural requirements into overall project design.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Provide technical support and problem-solving during the construction phase.
• Review shop drawings and material submittals for structural compliance.

Requirements

• BEng or BScEng in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in structural design and analysis for construction projects.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, Etabs, Prokon) and AutoCAD.
• Thorough understanding of concrete, steel, and timber design principles.
• Knowledge of relevant South African National Standards (SANS).
