Placements24 is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer for their construction division in Tembisa, Gauteng. The role focuses on designing steel and concrete structures for commercial and industrial buildings, translating concepts into safe, code-compliant solutions, and collaborating with architects, MEP, and project managers.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in structural engineering, a BEng or BSc in Structural Engineering, and familiarity with SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, and CAD.

Qualifications

• Degree in structural engineering (BEng or BSc).
• Professional registration with ECSA is desirable.
• Minimum 6 years in structural engineering within construction.
• Experience designing steel and concrete structures for commercial/industrial projects.
• Proficient in SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE and CAD.
• Strong knowledge of SANS building codes and engineering best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for new builds and renovations, ensuring compliance with national building codes and safety standards.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Collaborate with architectural and MEP teams to integrate structural designs with other building systems.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and provide technical support to site teams.
• Perform structural assessments and provide recommendations for existing buildings.
• Review and approve shop drawings submitted by contractors.
