Job description

Structural Engineer position available in Knysna.

A Vacancy for a Structural Engineer / Technician to design, analyse, and ensure the structural integrity of buildings while collaborating with architects and draftsmen.

Note: Must be able to work unsupervised. ECSA registration is not required for this position.

Salary: R45 000 – R55 000 per month.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or technical diploma.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years in Structural Engineering, preferably in the Building & Construction industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., PROCON) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD). Familiarity with Revit is a plus.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of materials science and engineering standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Innovative thinking for unique design solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects.

  • Quoting: Prepare quotes for structural designs based on project specifications.
  • Structural Design: Create detailed designs for foundations, decks, and superstructures.

  • Materials Selection: Recommend materials considering weight, strength, and corrosion resistance.
  • Documentation: Prepare technical reports and specifications for projects.
  • Project Management: Assist in planning, budgeting, and scheduling for timely project completion.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs meet safety and environmental regulations.
  • Quality Control: Participate in inspections to maintain design integrity during construction.
