The role demands 7+ years in structural engineering, a Master’s degree, and Pr Eng registration with ECSA. Proficiency in SAP2000/ETABS/Revit and strong leadership are essential. Hybrid work arrangement available in Cape Town.

Responsibilities

Lead structural design for diverse projects, ensuring standards compliance.

Oversee production of detailed drawings, specs, and reports.
Mentor junior engineers to maintain technical excellence and learning.
Collaborate with PMs, architects, and contractors to resolve design challenges.

About the Role

Our client seeks a visionary Lead Structural Engineer to spearhead design and analysis of innovative structural solutions for key construction projects based in Cape Town. This leadership role involves guiding a team of engineers, ensuring technical excellence, and driving adoption of cutting-edge engineering practices. You will play a crucial part in shaping the built environment, contributing to projects that range from high-rise buildings to complex infrastructure. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of structural mechanics and a passion for pushing the boundaries of engineering design within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the structural design process for diverse construction projects, ensuring compliance with national and international standards.
Perform complex structural analysis and calculations using advanced modeling software.
Oversee the production of detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports.
Mentor and develop junior structural engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to resolve design challenges and ensure constructability.
Review and approve structural designs and calculations submitted by team members and external consultants.

Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering, with a significant portion in a lead or senior capacity.
Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
Expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) and structural design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, Revit).
Demonstrated experience in designing structures for the Western Cape region, considering local seismic and environmental factors.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
