Deloitte’s Valuation & Modelling Team specializes in solving complex business and transaction issues, analyzing valuation alternatives, and recommending solutions. We understand how to quantify and present valuation analyses in accordance with accounting, tax, and regulatory standards for various purposes including transactions, litigation, and strategic management.

Our clients range from private and public companies to government entities, crown corporations, and investors.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform independent valuations of businesses, tangible, and intangible assets for mergers, acquisitions, litigation, financial reporting, restructuring, and strategic management.
  • Build and review valuation models, assessing underlying assumptions and data.
  • Advise clients and lead valuation engagements, serving as the primary contact for project delivery.
  • Lead valuation projects related to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, income tax strategies, financial reporting, and intangible assets.
  • Provide buy-side and sell-side valuation advice, including market analysis and purchase price allocations.
  • Support audit and tax functions with valuation services such as impairment analysis and business restructuring.
  • Create presentations, reports, and marketing materials for clients and prospects.
  • Identify new business opportunities and participate in proposals and presentations.
  • Research industry best practices and ensure compliance with valuation standards.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to training programs.
  • Manage projects to ensure client satisfaction and profitability.

Core Capabilities

  • Develop analytical models that inform recommendations convincingly.
  • Plan and execute engagements delivering excellent client experiences.
  • Act as a financial advisor through sophisticated financial analysis.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of clients’ industries and market trends.
  • Apply quality assurance, risk management, and confidentiality protocols.
  • Develop expertise in one stage of the M&A lifecycle and build networks across other areas.
  • Employ structured project management to ensure success.

Experience

  • 3-6 years of valuation or corporate finance experience in a Big 4, merchant bank, or similar environment, with exposure to large projects.
  • Recent CA (SA) qualifiers with no valuation experience may be considered.
  • Experience managing teams and projects involving valuations.
  • Experience supporting audit and tax functions with valuation services.
  • Experience in enterprise valuation, IFRS, and purchase price allocations is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • BCom Honours or MBA is advantageous.

Certifications

  • CFA, CA (SA), or equivalent certifications are advantageous.
