Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a strategic Transport Planner based in Polokwane to design efficient delivery routes, schedule shipments, and manage carrier relationships for cost-effective distribution. The role requires strong analytical skills and proficiency with TMS.

You will analyze logistics data, coordinate with warehouses and customer service, and monitor KPIs to improve on-time delivery and fleet utilization in the Limpopo region.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in transport planning or logistics coordination.
• Proficiency with TMS and route optimization tools.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex logistics data.
• Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
• Understanding of South African transportation regulations and market dynamics.
• A degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement optimal transportation plans and routes to meet delivery schedules and cost targets.
• Utilize transport management systems (TMS) to manage bookings, track shipments, and monitor performance.
• Analyze transportation data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve delivery efficiency.
• Negotiate rates and terms with transport providers and carriers, ensuring service level agreements are met.
• Coordinate with warehouse operations and customer service teams to ensure seamless logistics execution.
• Monitor and report on KPIs related to transportation costs, on-time delivery, and fleet utilization in Polokwane.
