Job summary

Imperative is seeking a resilient Project Cost Controller to join the Project Controls team on the Spekboom Project near Jansenville, in the Eastern Cape, SA. You will maintain cost data across budgets, commitments, actuals and forecasts, support variance analysis and reporting for IPT and funders, and ensure data integrity as the project scales.

With exposure to 4CastPlus and BI tools, you will drive dashboards, manage the asset register, and assist with supplier queries, paying close attention

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in project controls, cost management, or related finance/reporting.
• Experience with cost systems (4CastPlus, SAP, Netsuite) and BI tools.
• Fluency in English; tertiary qualification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cost breakdown structures and align with WBS.
• Track budget, commitments, actuals and forecasts by cost category and work package.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly cost reports for IPT and funders; create clean datasets and BI dashboards.
• Draft variance narratives distinguishing genuine overruns from scope changes.
• Assist with weekly pay runs; manage asset register and supplier queries.
• Maintain data integrity and audit trails for cost adjustments.
