Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Media Relations Manager to lead PR efforts in George, Western Cape. You will develop strategies, foster positive media relationships, and shape the organization's public narrative from this vibrant region.

The role requires 5+ years in media relations or journalism, a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), excellent writing and crisis-communication skills, and the ability to deliver measurable PR results for a growing company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in media relations, PR, or journalism.
• Proven success in securing positive media coverage and managing media relationships.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proven ability to develop and implement effective PR strategies in a corporate or agency setting.
• Experience with media monitoring tools and reporting analytics.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure during crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee strategic media relations plans.
• Cultivate strong relations with local, national, and international media.
• Craft press releases, media kits, and talking points for spokespersons.
• Pitch stories and secure positive media placements across platforms.
• Monitor media coverage, analyze trends, and provide insights to senior management.
• Prepare for and manage media interviews with consistent messaging.
• Lead crisis communications with timely and accurate information.
