Placements24 is recruiting a strategic Logistics Planner for a major national retailer in Sandton, Gauteng. The role focuses on optimizing the distribution network, developing efficient transport routes, and managing carrier relationships to ensure timely delivery.

You will analyse logistics data to identify cost savings, monitor shipments, and collaborate with warehousing and procurement to align plans with business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics or related field.
• Proven experience in logistics planning or transport management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data analysis proficiency.
• Excellent understanding of supply chain operations and transportation modes.
• Experience negotiating with carriers and managing 3PL providers.
• Proficient in logistics software and MS Office.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Regional knowledge of Gauteng SA logistics landscape is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement efficient transportation plans and route optimization strategies.
• Analyze logistics data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve delivery performance.
• Manage and negotiate contracts with third-party logistics providers and carriers.
• Monitor shipment progress and proactively address any delays or issues.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations and safety standards.
• Collaborate with internal departments to align logistics plans with business needs.
• Maintain accurate records of shipments, costs, and performance metrics.
• Identify and implement best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
• Forecast transportation needs and resource allocation.
