Job summary

The Logistics Operations Manager role at DHL Supply Chain South Africa will lead a regional hub responsible for orchestrating inbound/outbound freight, warehousing, and last-mile delivery services in Pretoria. You will report to the Regional Director of Operations and drive processes that enhance efficiency, safety, and service levels while aligning with DHL’s strategic growth and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required.
• Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM, CSCP, or PMP are considered an advantage and demonstrate a commitment to industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Pretoria logistics hub, including receiving, storage, order fulfillment, and dispatch.
• Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
• Manage a team of supervisors, coordinators, and warehouse staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, customs requirements, and DHL’s internal policies.
• Collaborate with sales, customer service, and IT departments to align operational capabilities with market demand.
• Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and labor productivity, and report results to senior leadership.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for any operational disruptions or service failures.
• Drive sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint monitoring.
